The wife is down at the hospital ... again. ;-{

She was feeling depressed; and wanted to lie down on the bed ... you know how it
is when you feel miserable. Not much I could do to help there; except let her
know I cared.

Only ... When lying face-down on the bed, she got stomach-pains. At first, from
the description, I thought it might be ulcer, acid-reflux, or something like
that; so I had her take an ant-acid.

No change.

She got worse; and finally I took her down to the local Urgent Care center.

After interviewing and hearing her history, they took an EKG, an X-ray, some
blood-tests, and a urine-sample (since I mentioned she was susceptible to
urinary infections).

The EKG turned out positive; with ischemic rhythms in her heart ... and the
urine-sample also tested positive with white-cells and some signs of blood, for
yet another urinary infection as well. They took her down to the ER in an
ambulance about 15 minutes ago.

I'm here at home, gathering up miscellaneous things she'll want at the hospital
(and things *I* will want while down there with her) and leaving a note for the
kid.

The one hopeful sign for the day was that her shrink said the medication she was
on *might* be responsible for her anxiety ... and changed it to something else
that will hopefully help her polar disorder without causing anxiety attacks as
well. Hopefully.

Damn. Every medication has side-effects. All too rarely those side-effects are
the type one wants.

Not that the heart-problems or the urinary-infection were caused by the
medication; but neither of those two problems exactly helps when you're already
feeling miserable.

Though ... She *did* brighten up a bit when they found both problems.
It *helps* to know they found something wrong that they can treat.
True misery is feeling bad ... and nobody having the slightest idea of what is
wrong or what can be done about it.

Thanks. I'm off to the ER to see how they're doing with the wife.
Wish her (and me) luck.
It (the wishing) might not do all that much; but knowing there are others
pulling for her makes ME feel better. (And SHE *does* appreciate prayers on her
behalf.)

So, thanks in-advance.
I might be missing for a day or so, and not see all replies.

Update:
She didn't see the cardiologist until 5:00PM today.
Luckily though, it was the same one she had last time.
Tomorrow, the plan is that they'll give her another angiogram; and if something
is wrong, fix it.
They *finally* (about 6:00PM, after the cardiologist was there) got her on some
medication for the urinary infection. Geesh. It seems they got so wrapped-up
in the heart-troubles, they didn't notice the note from the clinic that she also
had the urinary infection. I had to call their attention to the fact that the
clinic sent along the test-results. Darn. And they *could* have been treating
her for *that* at least, since the previous night. ;-{

Ah well.
The cardiologist anyway, seems to know what he's doing.
Tomorrow, hopefully, we'll know more ... and maybe have things fixed better.

Update again:
Today she had angioplasty. They went in, found two more blockages (one where
they'd previously put in a stent, and a second new one further down); and opened
them up; putting in at least one new stent.

The cardiologist says she *should* be able to do her usual exercise now, without
running out of breath like she has been.

She (hopefully) comes home tomorrow.

They're treating her urinary infection; and also culturing it to find out what's
causing it ... and if they're giving her the right treatment. Will likely be
another day or so for the results of THAT to come in.

I'm heading to bed in a few minutes.
The last couple of nights have been rather short on sleep.

I've asked this before, and ask again: How is your child handling this
situation this time?
It's hard to say.
No outward angst or worries.
I assume the kid relies on me to take care of things.
But then: Right now the kid is getting wrapped up with somebody of the
opposite-sex. The attentions are all going that direction.

I had to grin a bit today.
The kid tried to show off playing two games ... one on the computer and one
outside ... and got *creamed* both times.

The wife is home now; and seems to be doing a lot better.
No real exercise though for a week.

Went to get her medication for the infection ... and the insurance wouldn't pay
for that type. So, the pharmacy called down and got another prescription ...
But THAT would have cost even *more*, even though the insurance covered it. So,
we paid cash for the original prescription. $12.00 a pill, for four pills.
Ouch. Of course, the Plavix (blood-thinner) was even more expensive TOTAL; but
only about $4 a pill ... But she has to take *those* for about six months.

"The money is all, and there's too much month left."
