She's been falling down even more lately.
A week and a half ago, we got her in to see the neurologist.
He ordered a whole list of blood-workups, an MRI, and an MRA scan.
We would have done the MRI this last week, only the temp agency called
and asked if I could work that week; so we put it off until next
Tuesday, after the job was supposed to be over. Since I haven't had
work for months, it didn't seem to much to put the scan off for just
one week.

Well, this last week her falling down got even worse; falling down
sometimes two or three times a day.

Yesterday (Saturday) I wanted to get her out of the house, maybe get a
little gentle walking exercise in, since she hasn't been getting much
all week. She *almost* fell down getting in and out of the tub; but I
was there to help; and we made it OK. I came into the bedroom, and
found her lying face-down on the bed ... She'd fallen down
face-forward while picking up clothes to go out ... Luckily, onto the
bed.

I managed to get her out of the house by having her bump down the
stairs to the front-door on her butt instead of walking down the six
steps. I then took her out to Breakfast at Embers as kind of a treat;
since she hadn't been out of the house all week; and we needed to go
get groceries ... Mainly at Wal Mart.

Things went fine at Breakfast ... She walked OK to the car, from the
car to the restaurant, and after breakfast back to the car. I was
*hoping* things were going to be OK. While at the restaurant she ran
into her old Pastor at the church she had previously been going to ...
a guy she *really* liked; but had felt a need to change churches
anyway. (She said God told her to go to the other one.) He prayed
with her that she'd get better and stable on her feet.

Didn't work (or else God had his own agenda).

We got to Wal Mart, and things went to pot in a hurry.

She walked OK from the car to the door ... and then I watched her take
an exaggerated scared step over the little metal plate in the doorway
as if it was some DEEP step she was about to trip over. I told her,
"Don't DO that!" figuring she might fall if she did it again.

She did it again at the inner door ... and this time ended up flat on
her back with her head going, "Klunk!" on the flagstone floor. With
help from the Wal Mart people, we got her into a wheelchair; and she
pushed the cart around while I pushed her in the wheelchair. She was
too scared to stand and lean on the cart like I had planned. So, we
got most of the needed groceries there; and I planned on taking her
home, instead of heading over to the "regular" Cub Foods Store to pick
up things like Bananas and such that Wal Mart doesn't carry, or that
are more expensive there (like bagels and cream-cheese).

She wanted to do her exercise walking anyway ... So we went down to
the park ... stopped to get out ... and she couldn't do it. So, we
went home like I planned.

I got out, went around and opened the house door, came back to help
her in the house ... and she collapsed beside the car like a puppet
with strings cut. She told me to, "Call 911 and have them take me to
the hospital."

Well, with the kid's help we got her sitting in a chair alongside the
car, while we emptied out the groceries, and when we came back she had
managed somehow to get back into the car by herself. So, I drove her
down to the ER; and she's now checked into the hospital. She can't
even stand up from the bed to go to the can! It takes two of us to
support her just so she can turn off the bed and sit on a commode they
brought in so she could take a pee. She screams in fright at the
thought we might drop her or something.

It's now 3:19 in the morning; and I just HAD to type this before I
could go to bed myself.

Somehow, when she fell, her glasses went flying (or did they get lost
somewhere else ... We HAD them down at Wal Mart ... and we just CANNOT
find them. We really DON'T need the extra expense of a new pair of
glasses too. I just spent about an extra half-hour outside in the
dark with the car-light illuminating the grass near where she got out,
while I ran back and forth in a search-pattern with the cheap
metal-detector I bought a couple months ago, since they're
metal-rimmed glasses. Not a peep! Damn. When things go wrong, they
ALL go wrong.

I left her asleep down there about an hour and a half ago ... and am
now going to TRY and get about three hours of sleep myself before
heading back. I've got a couple of OLD pairs of her glasses, a
magazine, and a Bible for her, along with tomorrow's newspaper.

Well: She HAD appointments scheduled to see the cardiologist Monday,
and to go to a different place to get the MRI her neurologist
scheduled on Tuesday. It now looks like she'll likely still be in the
hospital Monday ... so the cardiologist can just go see HER there; and
she's going to get an MRI tomorrow morning (Today, Sunday); so that
appointment probably won't be needed either. Ah well.

If I had known THIS would happen, I would have said to hell with
working last week; and took her to the MRI THEN. But things didn't
seem that bad a week ago. ;-{

So, any well-wishes or other hopes ... even if for only finding a lost
set of glasses ... will be appreciated. I miss her already; and I'm
going back in a couple hours. Hope I can sleep without oversleeping.

I just HAD to say something before I could go to sleep.
Not sure why.

I might not get back to see responses to this for a day or so.
But all well-wishes are appreciated; and consider this, "Thanks in
Advance!"

All good wishes and hopes for a speedy recovery. If you get time you might
stop off at the store and ask about the glasses. If they found them while
cleaning they may have them in lost and found.

Hang in there and be strong for her.

My step-father suffered this a couple of years back, and it
turned out to be hydrocephela - water on the brain. They only
caught it when my mother read an article about a similar case.
It's not one of the tests they do for this kind of symptom.

To join the well wishers with a prayer.

My sister had about the same thing happen two years ago,
turned out to be a minor stroke (at 46 yrs!) but she has
fully recovered now.

All the best Frank.

Good thoughts on the way!!!
Post by Frank McCoy
Luckily, onto the
bed.
I managed to get her out of the house by having her bump down the
stairs to the front-door on her butt instead of walking down the six
steps. I then took her out to Breakfast at Embers as kind of a treat;
since she hadn't been out of the house all week; and we needed to go
get groceries ...
Well: She HAD appointments scheduled to see the cardiologist Monday,

appointment probably won't be needed either. Ah well.
If I had known THIS would happen, I would have said to hell with
working last week; and took her to the MRI THEN. But things didn't
seem that bad a week ago. ;-{
But all well-wishes are appreciated; and consider this, "Thanks in
Advance!"

They're so very heading your and her way Frank. Get what good rest you
can, and don't forget to take care of yourself while she's in the hospital.

Thanks to all who responded. Much Appreciated.
Sorry I don't have time to reply to each of you right now.

Update:
Nothing yet.
The MRI scan they did this morning, should have caught any of several
possibilities, from MS and tumors to minor strokes. Nothing. ;-{

A whole bunch of other tests (mostly blood tests); from testing for
infections to lack of B1 to diabetes to heavy-metal poisoning all
showed up negative. Probably over fifty tests in all. About a dozen
vials of blood.

They're wondering now if it's possibly her medication ... The same
anti-depression medication she's been taking for years. So, they're
cutting that down.

She can't even stand up alongside the bed today without shaking
uncontrollably and shrieking as if she was falling off a cliff ...
and yet yesterday we went walking over to the restaurant (Embers) for
breakfast. ;-{

Oh yeah ... A LONG search, and no glasses either.
That's REALLY strange; because they SHOULD have been right beside her
where she fell down.

I'm going to bed.
3 1/2 hours sleep last night, and 4 the night before.
